The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is:
“to take measures necessary for effective protection and management of the natural environment, coordination of conservation programmes, sustainable use of natural resources, assessment of the impact of development activities on the environment and the integration of appropriate environmental provisions into development planning”.
Environmental Protection Agency is charged with developing, implementing and enforcing the state's environmental protection laws that ensure clean air, clean water, clean soil, safe pesticides and waste recycling and reduction. Our Environmental Protection Agency, the lead agency for environmental management and stewardship, is one of the more diverse agencies in state government - protecting our air, water and land. Our environmental priorities include achieving regulatory certainty, consistency and protection, getting the water quality and quantity, and ensuring our residents and visitors have more opportunities to enjoy our award-winning state parks.
